BURST

Burst (born 1987 in Baden, Austria) lives and works in Vienna. He began his career as a musician and as a restorer of wood, metal and wall, founded an underground music label, and worked with several museum collections and the Vienna Secession building. That background shapes the many materials in his work. From 2019 until 2024 he lived and worked full-time as a media and crypto artist in Peru, where he developed his characteristic style of bold colours and striking forms, multidimensional portals, and the universal HAHA motif. He uses the blockchain not only as a medium but as part of his practice: his works sit between the digital and physical worlds, combining traditional media with augmented reality, artificial intelligence and, more recently, Bitcoin ordinals. In March 2025 he opened his first institutional solo exhibition, "HAHA. Burst's Cross Chain Artefacts", at the Francisco Carolinum museum in Linz, Austria. His work has been shown at Bitcoin Tokyo 2025, the Bitcoin Summit Art Exhibition in Hong Kong, Cypherpunk Lab in San Francisco, Inscribing Amsterdam, and Future Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
