The Connoisseur opens a new body of work in which Ksenia Buridanova brings cryptopunk aesthetics into contact with the tradition of the portrait commission—the kind of painting once used to declare status, taste, and identity. The mirrored helmet keeps the figure suspended between historical portraiture and speculative fiction. Buridanova recently debuted her inaugural BMAG Nashville exhibition, Mysteria Memetica, and was recently named BMAG’s 2026 Artist-in-Residence.
Created in 2026, the piece is executed in oil on gallery-wrapped linen canvas and ready to hang. Size: 57 × 71 cm / 22.4 × 28.0 in Ships from Las Vegas, Nevada.
