FALSE PROFITS

In 2012, MEAR ONE's large-scale mural on Hanbury Street in East London — depicting figures of power gaming atop the backs of workers — was removed by the local council amid intense public controversy, sparking international debate about censorship and political art. False Profits emerged directly from that episode. Launched as a street wheatpaste campaign in 2014, the work sharpened the mural's critique of financial corruption and institutional power into a portable, reproducible form designed for wide distribution.
